Ekkoet i Homunculus' Hjerte

The Echo in the Heart of the Homunculus

In this chapter, Hirath's intuition is challenged by a chaos so dense that even the light of the Star-Tear struggles to pierce through.

It is told that after his visit to the Sombrero Galaxy, Hirath steered his ship toward the most unstable heart of the Milky Way: the Carina Nebula. There, surrounding the raging giant star Eta Carinae, he was swallowed by the Homunculus Nebula—two enormous bubbles of dust and gas resembling a two-headed man, created by the star's violent eruptions.

Hirath immediately sensed the trap. The Homunculus Nebula was not merely a cloud of gas; it was a supernatural labyrinth of temporal imbalances. The gravity from Eta Carinae was so fierce that light bent back upon itself, and Hirath constantly saw his own ship in the viewports, as if pursued by a ghost. His instruments screamed of electromagnetic storms, and the navigation showed him to be in the past and the future at the very same time.

He was lost. Every time he attempted to steer toward the edge of the nebula, he was pulled deeper toward the white-hot core. A supernatural voice—The Whisper of the Mist—began to speak to him through the ship's hull. It was the sound of his own doubts, amplified by the cosmic roars of the star.

"Logic attempts to find a way out," Hirath thought, watching the starlight flicker like a dying lamp. "But in here, there is no 'out.' There is only 'now'."

He placed his hand upon the Star-Tear. It did not feel warm but pulsed with a violent, electrical energy that mirrored the fury of Eta Carinae. His intuition told him that he could not fight the nebula. He had to become part of its violent expansion.

Hirath closed his eyes and disconnected the autopilot. He let the ship rotate freely within the glowing gases. Instead of searching for a route on the screen, he listened to the vibrations of the Star-Tear. He remembered the sensation of falling—the surrender required to let go of control in order to find balance.

The Star-Tear emitted a blue lightning bolt that, for a moment, connected with the star's own light. Hirath did not see with his eyes, but with his intuition. He felt the invisible currents of plasma like threads in a loom. He waited for the precise moment the star discharged a wave of energy.

When the shockwave hit, Hirath did not use his engines to brake, but to surf upon the flame. He let the star's own fury hurl him out of the Homunculus' grip. By accepting the chaos, he found the energy needed to break free from the time loop.

When the ship finally shot out from the golden and purple clouds, the silence was deafening. Behind him, the Homunculus Nebula glowed like a raging god, but Hirath was once again master of his own course. He had learned that even when lost in the greatest chaos, one can find the way by allowing oneself to be carried by the very force that threatens to consume you.

It is said that from that day on, Hirath always carried a faint spark of electric blue fire in his ship, as a memory of the time he danced in the heart of Carinae.

Hirath demonstrates here that intuition is also about daring to let go of control when the darkness is too strong.
